Backup and Database Administrator
About this role
A Backup and Database Administrator to manage enterprise database platforms and backup systems in a Lagos-based role, supporting critical business applications. The position targets candidates with experience in database administration, backup and recovery, and working within large IT environments.
What you would do
- Provision and configure databases to enterprise standards (Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server)
- Monitor database health, performance, and resource usage
- Design, implement and manage backup strategies and retention policies
- Perform regular backup validation and recovery testing
- Implement disaster recovery, replication, high availability, and DR drills
- Collaborate with teams to optimise performance, security, storage, and governance

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of server administration experience
- Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and virtualization
- 5-8 years in database administration, enterprise data infrastructure, and backup/recovery
- Professional certifications preferred (eg Microsoft Azure certifications, Commvault)
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication and documentation skills
