Audit Accountant

About this role

Winnys Mart in Lagos seeks an Audit Accountant to examine the company’s financial records, internal controls and operations to ensure accuracy and compliance. The role involves auditing inventory movements, reviewing financial documents, and supporting external audits and tax reviews. It targets candidates with accounting or finance qualifications and relevant auditing experience. The company operates a retail/FMCG supermarket located at Winnys Plaza, Magbon Bus stop along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. The position is full-time with a stated monthly remuneration.

What you would do

• Audit the receipt, storage, issuance, transfer and use of supermarket products and other assets.
• Regularly audit financial records, transactions, invoices, receipts, vouchers and supporting documents.
• Maintain organised and confidential audit records and working papers.
• Perform periodic physical stock counts and reconcile with inventory records.
• Investigate stock shortages, variances, expiries and discrepancies between physical stock and system balances.
• Identify and investigate revenue leakages, cash shortages, irregular transactions and potential fraud.
• Provide supporting documentation during external audits, tax reviews and other financial assessments.
• Review daily sales reports, cash collections, POS transactions, bank transfers and other revenue records.

What they are asking for

• Professional qualification such as ICAN or ACCA is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of financial auditing, bank reconciliation, inventory control, revenue assurance and internal control systems.
• Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in auditing or accounting, preferably in retail or FMCG.
