About this role
The Audiologist role at The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja will provide diagnostic, rehabilitative and preventive hearing and balance services for adults and children. The post involves working with ENT and multidisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centred, evidence-based care in a 500-bed specialty hospital.
What you would do
- Obtain relevant clinical histories, perform otoscopy and age‑appropriate behavioural hearing assessments.
- Conduct and interpret tests including pure-tone and speech audiometry, tympanometry, acoustic reflex testing, and otoacoustic emissions.
- Perform or support electrophysiological testing such as auditory brainstem response and auditory steady‑state response in line with protocols.
- Carry out vestibular assessments and contribute to the evaluation of dizziness, imbalance, tinnitus, or suspected auditory processing difficulties.
- Prepare diagnostic reports, communicate findings and refer for medical, surgical, rehabilitative or educational intervention as needed.
- Develop individualised management plans and oversee the fitting, verification, programming and review of hearing aids and other assistive listening devices.
What they are asking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Audiology or an equivalent recognised qualification; a relevant master’s or clinical doctorate is advantageous.
- Current registration with the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Board of Nigeria (MRTB) and a valid practising licence, or eligibility to obtain both before appointment.
- Evidence of continuing professional development in diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology.
- Additional certification or advanced training in paediatric audiology, vestibular assessment, electrophysiology, tinnitus, or implantable hearing devices is advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification clinical audiology experience, preferably within a tertiary, specialist or multidisciplinary hospital environment.
- Demonstrated competence in adult and paediatric diagnostic audiology and in hearing‑device selection, fitting, verification and follow‑up, with practical experience in electrophysiological or vestibular assessment preferred.
