Assistant Accountant
About this role
The job is for an Assistant Accountant in Lagos to support daily financial records and assist the Accountant with sales, expenses and stock-related accounts. It is suitable for candidates with accounting qualifications and some experience in retail or wholesale environments.
What you would do
- Assist with stock reconciliation and cost tracking with the store team
- Support the Store and Operations Manager with accounting tasks
- Keep financial documents organised and up to date
- Track customer debts and supplier payments and follow up on outstanding balances
- Reconcile cash, bank and POS/transfer records daily and monthly
- Prepare and issue invoices, receipts and customer statements including for wholesale customers
What they are asking for
- Experience in a retail or wholesale environment is an advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage)
- HND or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- ICAN/ANAN progress towards it is an added advantage
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail, honesty and integrity
