Assistant Accountant
About this role
An Assistant Accountant role in Lagos supporting the Accountant with daily financial records, sales, expenses and stock-related accounts for a business. Suitable for candidates with accounting training and some exposure to retail or wholesale environments.
What you would do
- Record daily sales, purchases, payments and expenses
- Prepare and issue invoices, receipts and customer statements
- Reconcile cash, bank and POS/transfer records daily and monthly
- Track customer debts and supplier payments and follow up on outstanding balances
- Assist with stock reconciliation and cost tracking with the store team
- Support monthly financial reporting and tax/statutory filings
What they are asking for
- HND or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- ICAN/ANAN or progress towards it is an added advantage
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage)
- Prior experience in a retail or wholesale environment is an advantage
- Strong attention to detail, honesty and integrity
- Good organisational and time management skills
