Area Manager Human Resources

About this role

Role: Area Manager, Human Resources for Hapag-Lloyd AG in Lagos. You will manage HR delivery across the Area, assist the Head of HR with policy and programme administration, and guide Country HR Coordinators to ensure compliant, consistent HR practices. You will also support data analysis and payroll-related processes where required.

What you would do

• Provide HR advisory service to Country HR Coordinators on absence, health issues, conduct, capability, grievances and employee relations.
• Train Country HR Coordinators to implement HR processes and policies consistently across the Area.
• Participate in delivering HR processes including recruitment, onboarding and offboarding, expat administration, payroll, workforce planning and budgeting, performance management and talent management, reward and recognition, absence and leave administration, learning and development, QEM, Company Values and employee engagement.
• Ensure accuracy of data inputs from country level and analyse data to provide trends and reports to support decision making.
• Provide guidance and interpretation of HR policies and support adoption of best practice whilst ensuring compliance with corporate and local rules and regulations.
• Be the primary backup for payroll processing.

• At least 5 years' experience as an HR generalist, including at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership role.
• HR certification is an asset.
• Bilingual English and French; Portuguese skills will be a plus.
• Ability to process and analyse data.
• Strong communication skills; proactive and self-driven.
• Knowledge of labour laws and people practices across Central Africa.
