Antenatal Risk Stratification (ARS) Technical Consultant
About this role
Helium Health seeks an Antenatal Risk Stratification (ARS) Technical Consultant to refine and validate the ARS tool and support its digitisation into the EMR/HMIS platform on a short-term contract. The role is for a clinician with maternal and newborn health expertise to lead clinical and research activities across validation, ethics approvals, and cross-functional collaboration.
What you would do
- Review and refine the ARS tool, including its questions, risk classification logic, clinical recommendations, and referral pathways.
- Expand the ARS tool to assess risks in the postnatal period, newborn period, and non-pregnant state.
- Ensure the expanded tool and its clinical logic align with clinical guidelines and evidence.
- Design and lead the validation approach, including methodology, study design, sampling, testing procedures, data requirements, outcomes, and analysis framework.
- Lead the preparation and submission of ethical approval applications, including development of the research protocol and supporting documentation, and manage responses required through the process.
- Provide technical leadership for testing and validation with clinical, programme, data and implementation teams and support the digitisation of the ARS tool into the digital product.
What they are asking for
- Medical degree with significant clinical experience; obstetrics & gynaecology or related maternal/newborn health specialty strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of relevant clinical and/or public health experience, with strong expertise in maternal and newborn health.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical research, study design, research methodology, and scientific writing.
- Strong understanding of research ethics and IRB/ethical approval processes, including preparation of protocols and ethics applications.
- Experience designing or supporting validation of clinical tools, decision-support tools, screening tools, or risk-stratification models.
- Experience collaborating with clinical, programme, data, product, and technology teams.
