Uni-Medical Healthcare Ltd Nigeria is hiring a Junior to Mid-Level Accountant to handle day-to-day accounting for a supermarket. The role involves recording and reconciling sales, cash, bank transactions, purchases, expenses, supplier dealings, and inventory, while upholding internal financial controls. What you would do
- Record and reconcile daily sales from the POS system across cash, bank transfers, cards and other collections
- Monitor cash collections, lodgements and investigate shortages or variances
- Maintain accurate accounting records and post transactions into the system
- Monitor and reconcile inventory transactions with system records
- Assist with stock valuation, cost of goods sold and gross profit analysis
- Verify supplier invoices and maintain supplier accounts with outstanding balances
- Record and monitor operating expenses and reconcile petty cash
- Assist with payroll preparation and other routine accounting activities
- Prepare daily/weekly sales, cash, stock and financial reports
- Support monthly management accounts, bank reconciliations and month-end close
What they are asking for
- BSc or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related discipline
- 1 to 3 years of relevant accounting experience (retail, supermarket, FMCG or similar is an advantage)
- Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles
- Good Excel and accounting software skills
- Experience with POS systems and reconciliations
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping
- Integrity, honesty and accountability
- Good communication skills and ability to work under pressure
- Willingness to learn and follow established financial controls
