Accountant (Microfinance Bank)

About this role

An accounting role for a candidate with experience in microfinance or banking, responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting budgeting and controls within a microfinance bank in Lagos.

What you would do

• Maintain accounting records and process daily financial transactions.
• Prepare financial statements and management reports; manage the general ledger.
• Conduct bank, customer, loan, and investment reconciliations; ensure internal controls are followed.
• Support audits and regulatory reporting; ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow monitoring, and financial analysis.
• Monitor liquidity and process payments with proper approvals.

What they are asking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• 2–5 years’ accounting experience, preferably in a microfinance bank, bank or financial institution.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, regulatory compliance, and Microsoft Excel.
• ACA, ACCA, ICAN or equivalent certification is an added advantage.
• Key competencies include integrity, financial analysis, financial reporting, internal controls, reconciliation, regulatory compliance, communication skills, budgeting, and attention to detail.
