Accountant / Auditor

About this role

Veritaspeak Consultancy is seeking an Accountant / Auditor for its Abuja operations. The role requires at least three years of relevant accounting or auditing experience, a solid understanding of tax matters, and competency in bookkeeping, financial reporting and Nigerian accounting regulations. Applicants must reside in Gudu, Gaduwa, Apo or nearby, and may be posted to a branch based on operational requirements.

What you would do

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records (income, expenses, receivables, and payables)
• Prepare and review financial statements, reports, reconciliations, and other accounting documentation
• Conduct regular audits and financial reviews to identify discrepancies, errors, control weaknesses, and revenue leakages
• Handle tax computations, documentation, filings, and other statutory tax obligations
• Monitor internal controls and compliance with applicable accounting, tax, and financial regulations
• Provide financial reports and recommendations to management while maintaining confidentiality of company financial information

• BSc or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field
• Strong knowledge and practical experience in tax matters, including tax compliance, filing, and statutory obligations
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; computer literate
• Good knowledge of bookkeeping, financial reporting, reconciliation, auditing procedures, and Nigerian accounting regulations
• Strong attention to detail, numerical and analytical skills, integrity, confidentiality, and ability to work independently and meet deadlines
