About this role
This is a full-time, on-site Accountant position based in Lagos for Terra Energy Services Nigeria Limited, an indigenous oil and gas engineering services company. The role involves managing daily financial operations, maintaining records, budgeting, tax submissions, and supporting audits, with responsibilities including handling accounts payable and receivable and implementing financial policies.
What you would do
- Maintain accurate financial records including general ledger entries, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Manage project accounting: track costs, monitor expenses, and allocate costs to specific projects.
- Prepare and issue client invoices in line with contracts and milestones.
- Monitor project budgets and expenditures and report variances to management.
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts, investigating discrepancies.
- Ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions (VAT, WHT, PAYE, and Pension) and maintain regulatory compliance.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting, bookkeeping and general ledger practices.
- Experience in budgeting, financial analysis and preparing financial reports.
- Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with tax regulations, compliance and audit processes; professional certifications such as ACA, ACCA or CPA are a plus.
- Experience in the oil and gas or engineering sector is an added advantage; ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor Certification is also advantageous.
