About this role
A full-time Accountant is sought to manage financial operations for a furniture manufacturing business in Lagos. The role covers financial accounting, cost accounting, inventory control, budgeting and financial reporting for the company’s manufacturing activities. The employer designs, manufactures and installs modular furniture for business, educational and residential spaces in Lagos. The position is based in Lekki Phase 1 and targets candidates with relevant accounting qualifications and experience.
What you would do
- Maintain books of accounts and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, payroll and bank reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations including VAT, PAYE and Company Income Tax
- Calculate cost of production for each furniture piece considering materials, labour and overheads
- Monitor raw material usage, wastage and factory expenses
- Conduct regular stock counts of raw materials, WIP and finished goods
- Determine pricing in collaboration with production and sales to ensure profitability
- Monitor and reconcile factory assets and machinery
- Reconcile physical inventory with accounting records
- Prepare annual budgets and cash flow forecasts and analyse variances
What they are asking for
- OND, HND or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- 2 to 5 years of work experience in accounting or cost accounting
- Knowledge of manufacturing accounting and inventory management is desirable
- Experience with budgeting, financial reporting and tax compliance preferred
